DermImpact Grants Programme provides support for projects that are looking to build capacity in underserved regions/communities to improve care and services for patients with skin diseases.
We welcome applications from any country in the world, from organisations as well as individuals. This grant programme offers US$10,000 per year (US$20,000 in total), and each project will be supported for two years.
The second instalment of funds will be transferred after the interim report has been received and reviewed. Proven experience in setting up successful projects that have an impact on the community, especially in collaboration with other stakeholders, will be preferred.
ILDS DermImpact Grants Programmes are awarded on a competitive basis, reviewed by the International Foundation for Dermatology (IFD) Committee and approved by the ILDS Board of Directors.
This is the single most important predictor.
ILDS states that its grant programmes support initiatives that improve dermatological care and services for patients with skin diseases in resource-limited and underserved settings. Projects focused on high-resource environments are generally less competitive.
Strong examples include:
ILDS explicitly lists sustainability as a major review criterion.
Competitive projects demonstrate:
Applications are formally assessed on sustainability and long-term value.
A major strategic goal of ILDS is strengthening dermatology capacity in underserved regions.
Successful applications often include:
The DermImpact programme specifically prioritizes capacity building and training initiatives.
ILDS repeatedly encourages collaboration among:
Projects involving multiple stakeholders are specifically encouraged because they increase the likelihood of sustainable change.
Successful projects generally demonstrate meaningful involvement of:
Community awareness and engagement are explicit priorities within the DermImpact programme.
A distinctive ILDS predictor is prior success in delivering community programs.
The application guidance specifically notes that applicants with:
will be viewed favorably during review.
Applications are formally reviewed for feasibility.
Strong proposals include:
Reviewers assess whether the proposed initiative can realistically achieve its stated goals within the grant period.
ILDS works closely with the World Health Organization and emphasizes global skin-health initiatives. Projects addressing:
align particularly well with ILDS priorities.
Programs linked to ILDS initiatives such as GLODERM emphasize developing future dermatology leaders who can create lasting change in their communities.
Projects that empower local professionals and create future leaders tend to align strongly with the Foundation's mission.
