AAAAI Drug Hypersensitivity Research Grant

American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology

This funding opportunity is to support research grant(s) to advance the state of knowledge, develop novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications that could have a significant impact on drug hypersensitivity research. This funding mechanism is designed to further research in drug allergy/hypersensitivity for individuals with a current or future focus in drug hypersensitivity research. Priority will be given to junior faculty and those without current NIH funding. For the purpose of this opportunity vaccines are not considered drugs, and applications that focus on vaccine reactions will NOT be considered for this award.

Amount
This two-year award will provide for direct costs (salary, lab expenses, etc.) ranging from $50,000 - $150,000 (dispersed to the awardees institution in four equal payments). Award term is July 1, 2027 to June 30, 2029. Funds may not be used for institutional indirect costs.

Selection
The following entities will be involved in the selection of awardees:
1. AAAAI Grant Review Committee
2. AAAAI Board of Directors

Terms
Once the award is granted, the following requirements will need to be met to ensure that the award will
continue throughout the 2-year award cycle:
1. An annual written progress report describing research efforts and other career development aspects, as well as a summary of the allocation of the received funds (Due July 1 of each award year).
2. Acknowledgement of the AAAAI support when giving presentations or in any publications that result
from the research conducted and sponsored by the award.
3. Must be a member of the AAAAI during the award term.

1. Be board certified in allergy/immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI) or
hold the equivalent certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
2. At the time of Letter of Intent (August 14), applicant must be at or below the level of Associate
Professor (or equivalent).
3. Primary faculty appointment must be in the discipline of allergy/immunology.
4. One of the following degrees:
• MD
• MD, PhD
• DO
• DO, PhD
5. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
6. A member of the AAAAI.
