Fellows will be supported to settle down into their new environment (find appropriate accommodation
and locate amenities). Desk space will be allocated. Full induction (safety, laboratory practices, personal
welfare) will be provided by the University’s designated staff and by myself. I will arrange an initial
meeting with the fellow to discuss the objectives of the training.

The fellow will be fully trained to all activities of the Department. They will be able to engage with me
(supervisor) and other members of the group in different surgical procedures. They will also be engaged
in clinical research and write a manuscript during their stay depending on their interest.

The fellow will be given the opportunity to actively participate in group meetings and other academic
activities within the School and the University, including attending workshops, conferences, e.t. They
will also be encouraged to present their work orally at a group meeting at least once before they
complete their visit.

Towards the end of the training, I will have a meeting with the fellow to discuss plans to publish their
clinical work (if enough data collected) or disseminate their findings at a future conference.
Throughout the training, any particular challenges or specific requests of a fellow will be fully considered
to ensure a responsive, relevant and adequate training plan is developed for them.

Feedback:"My mentor was wonderful. I had a great experience, and I attended many cases of robotic surgery with other Andrology cases. I stayed at a B&B accommodation, and I found this good. I did not attend a local conference. Catania is a beautiful city, and I had time to move around."

Summary
Review and Highlights: Catania is a beautiful city, blessed with breathtaking landscapes and the magnificent Mount Etna standing majestically above it. The people of Catania are warm, friendly, and hospitable, and the city has a calm charm that makes visitors feel relaxed, welcomed, and content. During the fellowship, I had the opportunity to observe several interesting cases, including penile prosthesis surgery and some robotic urological procedures. These were valuable learning experiences and added meaningfully to my professional exposure. I would especially like to mention Dr. Giorgio, who was extremely supportive, welcoming, and made sincere efforts to facilitate my visit and enhance my learning experience in the best possible way. Improvements: Although the fellowship was useful, I feel there is definite room for improvement. It would be highly beneficial if fellows could have greater surgical exposure, more structured operative sessions, and opportunities for hands-on experience or at least assisting during surgery. Another important challenge was the language barrier, as most surgeons communicated mainly in Italian. This made professional communication difficult at times and limited the educational benefit of some clinical and operative discussions. Visa Process: The visa process was manageable. It may be helpful for future fellows to receive early guidance regarding the most appropriate visa type, supporting documents, invitation letter requirements, and expected processing timelines. Travel and Accommodations: I stayed at B&B Policlinico Gaspare, which was a very good accommodation option. It was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located only around five minutes’ walk from the urology department. However, finding muslim halal food nearby was challenging, so it may be useful for future fellows to receive some guidance about suitable food options in the area. Overall Rating: I would rate my overall experience 3 out of 5. While I appreciated the opportunity and the support provided, the experience could be significantly improved by increasing the number of cases fellows are exposed to, addressing the language barrier, and providing more opportunities to assist or participate in operative procedures.
