Named in memory of Dr. Peter Geistlich, founder of Osteo Science Foundation and former President and Chairman of Geistlich Pharma, this award is the keystone research program of Osteo Science Foundation, and remains the most competitive funding opportunity.
The maximum grant amount is $50,000 per year, with a one or two-year project duration, totaling a maximum of $100,000 (inclusive of indirect costs, which are capped at 10%).
Process & Timeline
All proposals must include an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon affiliated with the project, contributing at least 10% (4 hours/week) of the project effort. All research and project-related work must be conducted in the United States or Canada.
Proposals for the Peter Geistlich Research Award must be submitted to Osteo Science Foundation using the online form, no later than 4:45 PM EST on the deadline of December 1. Late submissions will not be accepted. Effective January 1, 2025, there will only be one application cycle per year. Proposals are reviewed by the Scientific and Clinical Review Committee. Final funding decisions are made by the Osteo Science Foundation Board of Directors.
Applicants who are invited to submit full applications may do so by using the online form by 4:45 PM EST on the deadlines of May 1 to allow review by June 15.

Grants from Osteo Science Foundation are intended for research proposals submitted by innovative researchers and clinicians who want to address questions in the field of hard and soft tissue regeneration in Oral and CranioMaxillofacial Surgery.
Clinically relevant topics should be addressed and the results submitted to international peer-reviewed journals.
