Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Laurell's Training Award

Grifols

Identify and support innovative clinical and scientific research focused on gaining greater insight into the biologic roles of Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (AATD).

  • Offer young scientists and clinicians the opportunity to begin conducting research on AATD or further establish themselves in this area.
  • Establish new and long-lasting relationships with participating scientists and clinicians and strengthen the existing network between researchers and Grifols.

FUNDING

The award program consists of two annual grants of EUR 50,000 each.  Funding is intended to support a 12 month project.

CRITERIA

Applications are evaluated based on four criteria:

  • Scientific merit
  • Innovation
  • Clinical / medical impact
  • Quality of research environment

CANDIDATES

The ALTA Award is available to early career clinicians and scientists who are new to the field, as well as those who are already studying AATD.  Applicants should be under the age of 40 at the time of application.  Investigators worldwide are encouraged to apply for this award.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Eligible applicants must submit a CV and a Letter of Intent outlining the aims of their research project. Application letters that fulfill the terms of entry will be assessed and judged by a Review Committee comprised of five experts from healthcare, research, and industry. Based on their review, the Committee will invite four candidates to submit a full research proposal. The Review Committee will evaluate the research proposals and select two award recipients.
