This programme is designed to give you a meaningful, hands-on exposure to hand and microsurgery, with a strong focus on clinical judgement, and integrated multidisciplinary care. Over the course of your attachment, you will be involved in a variety of cases, offering insight into both the technical and decision-making aspects of this highly specialised field.
While the clinical pace work may be demanding, we encourage you to take ownership of your learning by asking questions and engaging actively with all members of the team (nurses, therapists) to gain a holistic experience.
Beyond clinical skills, we hope you will also gain an understanding of the philosophy of hand surgery, from preoperative planning to communication, teamwork and therapy.

1. Joint replacement of small joints of hand
2. Joint replacement of wrist joint
3. Joint replacement of elbow joints
4.Small joint arthroscopy
5. Endoscopic nerve release
6. Internal fixation of upper limb with use of 3D planning for corrective osteotomies, complex fractures, patient-specific instrumentations
7. Congenital hand problems
8. Microsurgery involving replantation, skin flaps, muscle flaps
9. Nerve and tendon repairs including microsurgical repair and reconstructions involving nerve transfers
The Clinical Attachment Programme is divided into clinical and academic components, providing candidates with the opportunity to actively participate and learn from them. A typical week includes a good mix of accompanying the attending consultant in the operating room, outpatient clinics, didactic sessions, and research hours. Candidates are expected to participate in case discussions and CME sessions. Candidates will also have on-call responsibilities, providing emergency care and surgical intervention under the supervision of senior surgeons.
