SHRF Align Grant

Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation

The SHRF Connections Program provides short-term, streamlined funding with an overall goal of shaping research to align with real-world needs and embedding knowledge translation in the research process. 

​The Align Grant is designed to support projects and activities that will align research in Saskatchewan with real needs and position teams for impact including securing future funding, strengthening collaboration, implementing improvements in health, providing training opportunities and creating capacity for the province.​

Objectives

The objective of the Align Grant is to support new opportunities for research funding and real-world impacts in Saskatchewan. Align Grants provide funding for teams to complete activities that will aid them in building momentum for novel ideas, approaches, collaborations and perspectives in order to successfully pursue their identified future research funding.

This funding can support research teams aiming to achieve goals such as:

recruitment and engagement of non-academic team members and supporters

embedding knowledge translation into the research process

identifying gaps in current practice

determining feasibility of interventions, models or protocols

​The Align Grant is not intended to provide continuous support or operating costs for ongoing research.

This is an open call. Applications may address any area of human health. 

Funding Details

Amount

Up to $10,000.

Term

The grant provided is for up to one year.

Multiple Applications

The Principal Investigator can submit only one application at each deadline, but may be a co-principal investigator or co-investigator on other applications at the same submission deadline.

Successful Principal Investigators in Call #1 cannot submit a second Align Grant application in Call #2. They may submit a second Align Grant application in the next fiscal year.

Principal Applicant Requirements

The Principal Applicant is the individual who is responsible for the overall direction of the proposed activities, assumes administrative responsibility for the grant and receives all related correspondence from SHRF. The Principal Applicant is responsible for submitting the application by the deadline.
The Principal Applicant must meet the definition outlined in the SHRF Funding Guide.

Team Requirements

At least one Saskatchewan-based trainee must be named either as personnel or as a co-applicant and their roles and responsibilities adequately described.

Application Requirements

All applications should clearly address the grant objectives. 


Applications must indicate intent to apply for at least one additional external research funding opportunity for the project within one year from their Align Grant funding end date (see the Future Funding Applications Section) to be eligible.
