Jaber Al-Ahmad Prize for Young Researchers

Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences

In order to encourage outstanding scientific talents in various branches of knowledge, and to encourage PhD holders from the country to research, study, write, and translate in various branches of scientific production, the Foundation announces the start of receiving nominations for the Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers for the year 2026, in the following fields:

Natural Sciences and Mathematics: These include physics, chemistry, geology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, and other similar disciplines.
Engineering sciences: These include chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, agricultural engineering, and other similar disciplines.
Life Sciences: These include botany, embryology, zoology, entomology, biochemistry, agriculture, animal husbandry (veterinary medicine, milk and dairy production, poultry, cattle and fish), agricultural chemistry, agricultural diseases, horticulture, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics and other similar disciplines.
Medical and paramedical sciences: These include anatomy, pharmacy, physiology, medical microbiology, pathology, internal medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiotherapy, surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, and other similar disciplines.
Social and human sciences: These include anthropology, psychology, sociology, political science, history, geography, education, Arabic language, foreign languages, philosophy, law, Sharia, and other similar disciplines.
Administrative and Economic Sciences: These include business administration, marketing, management information systems, finance, international business administration, accounting, economics, insurance, operations management, and other similar disciplines.

In each of the aforementioned fields, the Foundation offers a cash prize of 15,000 KD (fifteen thousand Kuwaiti dinars), in addition to a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation.

The Jaber Al-Ahmad Award is granted according to the following conditions:

The candidate must be a Kuwaiti citizen.
He must not have won in any field of the Jaber Al-Ahmad Award.
Nomination is not permitted for more than one field of the Jaber Al-Ahmad Award, provided that the nomination is in the same field of scientific specialization and with advanced research.
The candidate must hold a doctorate or fellowship degree for medical specialties, and the doctorate or fellowship degree must be accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. This excludes faculty members sent on scholarship from government universities.
The candidate must not be older than 45 years of age at the time the award is announced.
The types of scientific output that are included in the evaluation process are research published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, in addition to scientific conferences, research not fully published (abstracts and posters) in scientific conferences, authored, translated and edited books and chapters thereof, articles, studies, reports and international patents.
The scientific output submitted must consist of at least 12 research papers published in peer-reviewed journals after obtaining a doctorate or fellowship.
Adherence to the scientific production standards and principles of academic research integrity.
The decisions of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences are final and may not be challenged.

Nominations will be accepted until Sunday, May 31, 2026.
