The IADR Student Training and Research (STAR) Network considers new researchers to be critical to the future of Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, through both leadership and contributions to science. IADR STAR Network has established this award to promote student attendance at the IADR General Session & Exhibition.

Application Process

An abstract must be submitted to the IADR General Session & Exhibition by the abstract submission deadline, adhering to the required submission procedures. In the awards section of the online abstract submission process, select the IADR Student Training and Research (STAR) Network travel award.

In addition, an application file including the following data must be submitted: Nominee’s name, address, date of birth, current place of study, position; curriculum vitae; Relevant recommendation letter explicating the student's contribution to the presented research. Please combine all items in one document and email to the award contact at the bottom of the award page.

Award

The travel award is in the amount of $1,000 to help overcome the financial challenges students face associated with attending a scientific meeting. This award will promote the leadership and scientific contributions of new researchers by recognizing research excellence across scientific backgrounds. The winner will be notified prior to the meeting and will be officially announced at the STAR Network business meeting. The winners must attend the IADR STAR Network business meeting to be recognized for their work.

Review and Selection

An awards committee of the STAR Network will judge the candidate abstracts. Abstracts will be ranked according to points awarded for each of the following criteria: 1) Scientific rigor, 2) Originality, 3) Potential impact on Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, and 4) Student contribution. The award is accompanied by a cash prize and a certificate.

Proof of attendance as well as a one-paragraph summary of the impact of the award will be required within 2 months following the IADR General Session & Exhibition.
