HCU Network America, in partnership with HCU Network Australia, established a research grant program and a Scientific Advisory Board(SAB) in 2017 to identify and advise on research priorities focused on homocystinuria related to CBS Deficiency. The global grant program expanded to include remethylation disorders in 2020. Ten grants have been awarded from 2018 through 2025. This call is being initiated by HCU Network America for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to identify a small number of potential researchers whose programs will be considered for grants and invited to submit a full Grant Application.
Key Priorities
Eligible Applicants March 1, 2026 Call for Expressions of Interest Research Grants for Classical Homocystinuria and Cobalamin G, a Methionine Synthase Deficiency HCU Network America, in partnership with HCU Network Australia, established a research grant program and a Scientific Advisory Board(SAB) in 2017 to identify and advise on research priorities focused on homocystinuria related to CBS Deficiency. The global grant program expanded to include remethylation disorders in 2020. Ten grants have been awarded from 2018 through 2025. This call is being initiated by HCU Network America for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to identify a small number of potential researchers whose programs will be considered for grants and invited to submit a full Grant Application. Key priorities for EOIs to be considered should include one of the following:
• Novel proposals for treatment and prevention of clinical manifestations for Classic Homocystinuria and/or;
• Novel proposals for treatment and prevention of clinical manifestations for cobalamin G, a Methionine Synthase deficiency by exploring novel mechanisms to obtain proof of concept to enable progression to clinical trials. Awards are expected to be up to $50,000.
The award requires that funds not be used for the support of institutional indirect or overhead costs. Research Grants are intended to support Eligible applicantsmust have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degrees and currently hold a fulltime position at any level (post-doctoral, research scientist, assistant/associate/full professor, etc.) at an established academic/research institution. While not the primary focus of the grants program, applications from industry will be considered. Applicants will be considered from the United States and internationally. projects to produce proof of concept that would facilitate more substantial funding from federal agencies, foundations or corporations.
