The Frank and Virginia Winker Memorial Scholarship for Graduate Study in Acoustics has been established through a generous donation by The Elizabeth L. and Russell F. Hallberg Foundation and Douglas F. Winker to the Acoustical Society of America to support graduate study in the fields of architectural acoustics noise control, or engineering acoustics. One scholarship (currently $10,000) is awarded each year to a student who is a US citizen enrolled in any university in the United States that offers a graduate degree program in architectural acoustics, noise control, or engineering acoustics.
To be eligible for the Scholarship an applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America enrolled in any college or university in the United States and who must be pursing research toward a graduate thesis project in Architectural Acoustics, Noise Control, or Engineering Acoustics.
Engineering Acoustics, for the purposes of the Winker Scholarship, includes: Applications of linear and nonlinear acoustics, transduction and transducers, acoustical measurements, instrumentation, and applications of signal processing to any of the aforementioned areas.
