Fellow of the National Lipid Association (NLA) is an honor reserved for, and awarded to NLA members who are esteemed and recognized by their professional colleagues for having the highest ethical standards and who have distinguished themselves at a regional, national, or international level in the field of Clinical Lipidology. They exhibit excellence in leadership and service towards the NLA's mission of reducing death and disability related to disorders of lipid metabolism.

Eligibility Requirements

All of the following must be met in order to be considered for the FNLA award:

Membership in the NLA in good standing for at least the past three years (following completion of training) and residing in Canada, the U.S. or U.S. territories
An active license as a healthcare professional (if in clinical practice) and/or degrees/certification in a related specialty (e.g., exercise physiology, nutrition) with a focus on lipid management and the prevention of cardiovascular disease
Professional activity in Clinical Lipidology via practice, education, and/or research for at least two years since completion of training
Certification by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology or Clinical Lipid Specialist Certification by the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidiology

Additionally, one or more of the following contributions to the NLA must be met to demonstrate the candidate's dedication to the NLA:

Substantial participation in NLA activities such as regional or national NLA meetings, NLA sponsored courses, NLA sponsored continuing education activities, or
Development of educational materials, scientific statements or press releases, and/or presentations by or for the NLA (e.g., contributor to Lipid Spin, Lipid Luminations on ReachMD, Lipid Insights), or
National or regional NLA committee/Board work, or reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Lipidology, or the Foundation of the National Lipid Association
