Hyundai Hope On Wheels® [“HHOW”] is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that joined the fight against childhood cancer in 1998. The organization funds life-saving research and creates awareness for childhood cancer. Since its inception, HHOW has donated more than $225 million to fund pediatric cancer research.
In 2026, the following categories of research grants for pediatric cancer are available per this RFP:
• Hope Scholar Grant: $400,000 (two-year award)
• Young Investigator Grant: $250,000 (two-year award),
One proposal may be submitted from any applicant institution in each category (i.e. one Young Investigator and one Scholar), for a total of two. Only DCI members are eligible.
Deadlines:
Submitting institutions must be a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and remain so during the time of the award, operating in the U.S. and primarily serving U.S. residents. The Institution must be a non-profit entity and able to prove their qualified tax- exempt status.
A PI is eligible to apply for the Hyundai Scholar Hope Grant if he/she is an MD or MD/PhD conducting pediatric cancer research. Applicants must have completed their fellowship sub-specialty training at the time of the award. Submitting PIs are to be selected by the chief of pediatric hematology-oncology at the applicant institution.
A PI is eligible to apply for the Hyundai Young Investigator Grant if he/she is a MD/physician who is currently in his/her 3rd or 4th year of an accredited pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship training program and involved in pediatric cancer research or if he/she is a pediatric oncologist/MD, in his/her initial academic appointment, within 6 years from completion of fellowship training, and involved in pediatric cancer research.
Submitting PIs are to be selected by the chief of pediatric hematology-oncology at the applicant institution.
