The All of Us Research Program is a historic national effort to enroll participants who share data to accelerate research and medical breakthroughs and enable individualized prevention, treatment, and care for all. The All of Us Researcher Workbench provides unparalleled linkage to multimodal data, including the integration of genomic data, electronic health records, wearables data, surveys, and physical measurements. Additionally, approximately 600,000 participants have provided biospecimens, making the platform one of most diverse and richly characterized biobanks in existence.
This topic aims to highlight extramural researchers’ ability to leverage NIH ICO funding mechanisms in order to analyze biospecimens donated by All of Us participants. Researchers who have approval for access to All of Us biospecimens are expected to secure additional funding to support sample processing, data generation and curation, analysis and integration, and return of value to participants. To learn more about expanded biospecimen access, please visit the All of Us Research Hub .
Specifically, this topic is to demonstrate interest by the participating ICOs in encouraging researchers to use All of Us biospecimens in their RPG submissions as a way to accelerate research, reduce costs, and provide a clear path to share data with the broader researcher community and for other researchers to build on the work generated from these awards.
Of particular interest are applications that use All of Us biospecimens to support broad-scale biomarker and omics analyses in general populations or broadly informative subpopulations, especially where these approaches may reduce the need for new biospecimen collection and thereby accelerate research progress.
