This competitive grant program seeks to fund high-impact Independent Medical Education (IME) initiatives designed to address critical knowledge, skill, and confidence gaps among healthcare professionals (HCPs) regarding Homologous Recombination Repair mutation (HRRm) testing in metastatic prostate cancer (mPC).
The goal of this RFP is to move beyond foundational knowledge and equip the multidisciplinary team with the practical skills needed to support guideline-based HRRm testing across the patient care pathway. This includes a deep focus on the pre-analytical phase, where specimenrelated factors may affect testing feasibility and quality, as well as advanced skills in interpreting, communicating and applying HRRm testing information in clinical practice. Projects should prioritize educational interventions that equip HCPs with knowledge, competencies, and confidence needed to evaluate and apply guideline-recommended HRRm testing approaches in clinical practice. Proposals should demonstrate measurable impact on learner knowledge, competence, and confidence in testing-related decision-making, multidisciplinary collaboration, and application of guideline-based testing pathways.
Project Types and Area of Interest
A key priority of this RFP is bridging the academic-community practice gap. Programs that provide practical educational resources, case-based learning, best-practice considerations in HRRm testing from specimen acquisition through biomarker-informed treatment decisionmaking, or educational frameworks that support HCPs in applying evidence-based testing recommendations in routine clinical practice are particularly encouraged. Proposals should be comprehensive and address topics across the following key educational domains:
• Domain 1: Pre-Analytical and Multidisciplinary Considerations Across the HRRm Testing Pathway
• Domain 2: Clinical Rationale and Guideline-Based Considerations for HRRm Testing
• Domain 3: Applying and Communicating HRRm Testing Results in Clinical Practice
Funding Range and Project Length
Total available budget related to this RFP is approximately $300,000.00. Individual projects covering multiple countries requesting up to $100,000 will be considered. Smaller projects are also encouraged (e.g. $30,000-$50,000). Maximum project length is 12 months.
👉 Misalignment with Pfizer’s current RFP (Request for Proposals) is a major rejection factor
Pfizer strongly favors proposals that demonstrate:
👉 Compared to academic grants, practical impact is more heavily weighted
Successful applications typically include:
👉 Weak methodology is one of the most common rejection reasons
👉 Early-career applicants can succeed, but usually with:
For Pfizer grants (especially IIR):
👉 Non-compliance can lead to automatic disqualification
Highest impact factors:
Moderate predictors:
4. Investigator track record
5. Institutional capability
6. Feasibility
Supporting factors:
7. Budget clarity
8. Compliance
9. Independence & transparency
Unlike Horizon Europe or NIH-type grants:
👉 Pfizer funding is more application-driven than theory-driven
👉 “Will this improve patient care soon?” is the central evaluation lens
