The AAOA Foundation seeks to advance allergy research and knowledge for the treatment of otolaryngic conditions by inviting applications for grants to conduct research in the pathogenesis, pathophysiology, diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of otolaryngic allergy. Funds are available to support multiple projects each year; each project may have total direct costs of $10,000.
Purpose
The award’s primary purpose is to generate new knowledge that will result in better understanding of allergic conditions. Aligning with the Foundation’s mission, proposals must have a primary allergy endpoint or be of substantial importance to the AAOA.

Projects involving:
often receive stronger evaluations because they demonstrate broader expertise.

10. Potential for future external funding
Reviewers may favor projects likely to:
Foundation grants are often viewed as “seed funding.”
Frequent weaknesses include:
The most competitive AAOA Foundation applications usually combine:
clinically relevant ENT allergy question + feasible study design + experienced mentorship + preliminary data + realistic outcomes + strong translational value
